Sticking On To Limit Holdem PDF Print E-mail
In limit holdem if you are going to rise with a big pair like KK or AA then your opponents are likely to guess that you are raising the pre-flop because you are holding something big like AA or KK.  This is like leaking a lot of information much to the disadvantage of the player.  In such a case they are likely to call with worse hands because they know that if you are going to hit a bad flop you will have a tough time folding your big hand, they do all the calls expecting to hit on a good draw; however, in such a case even if you are going to make good draw you will win and many tight players would have folded early and your winning will be minus those bets.  Had you bet less, the tight player would have stayed on.

Whether you are playing in limit holdem or no limit holdem you need to focus to keep lot of players playing if you hold a good hand. Especially in limit holdem, the secret to having a good pot in winning is to have a lot of flop bets when you are in a good stand. Also, you need to mix in a few big pre-flop plays because slow playing always will make you too predictable. If not for anything you better disguise your hands making it hard for your opponent hand to guess what you are.  Mix your plays and strategies do not overdo one strategy that will prevent others from guessing you.

In limit holdem if the bet you make is going to be very small most of the time, it will be pre-calculable and affordable by all.  Any small bet in limit holdem will allow any player drawing feel that there is a decent chance by calling the small bet in the flop, they might even play in the turn by checking.  Therefore most of the limit games pose the confusion in identifying the true opponent until showdown because most players tend to see the turn and river for very little money.

So, when you are playing limit holdem even if the loss is going to be affordable it is going to be difficult to identifying the person with the winning pockets most of the time.  Perhaps a table image and math based play is the right way to go.  Again, situational ideas should be used rather than sticking on to stereotyped playing.
